My parent's cabin is situated right in the middle of a circle of chalk mountains. Just outside the door is an adventurer's playground, and, I don't know if anybody else has ever taken their kids on vacation, but....by 9am, they are coming out of their skin.
We DO have a tv to watch DVDs (hooray for bedtime), but we have no cell signal, very weak internet, and nothing but the mountain air to keep us occupied.
I'll take it for eternity, please.
So, this morning, by 8:30am these boys were ready to GO! Hubs and I quick packed a bag and we were off to one of our favorite trails...the first Sam ever went on when he was just a babe in the hiking backpack.
Before you enjoy the pictures, know that these trails are flanked on either side by the side of a mountain and a STEEP cliff. I spent every 10 minutes of the walk going "ELIJAH KEITH GET OFF THE LEDGE!!!!" just as his little flip flop would slip on the gravel.
Also. Yes our little hiked a 2 miler in flip flops. He lost his shoes ONE DAY after I purchased them, the very minute we got off the plane. His new hikers are coming to our door soon...thank you, Zappos. But the happy dance I was doing about the 30% discount I received on the original pair has swiftly ended. Boys. What are we gonna do?
